Andhra Pradesh: Differently-abled woman gang-raped at govt hospital, 3 arrested

A differently-abled woman was allegedly gang-raped in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijaywada district. All three accused have been arrested and Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered strict action against them.
A differently-abled woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men on the premises of Vijayawada Government General Hospital on April 19 and 20. All three accused were arrested hours after the case was registered.
According to Vijayawada Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata, on April 20 afternoon, the woman’s mother filed a complaint with the Nunna police station that her daughter was missing. Police then questioned Srikanth, who was a suspect. Srikanth initially told the police that the woman had come to visit him on the night of April 19, but claimed that he sent her away in an auto as it was night.
However, after the woman was found, she informed the police that Srikanth had not sent her away in an auto, but took her to the Government General Hospital, with the promise of a job offer. The woman claimed that the accused told her that he would marry her and then raped her. She alleged that the accused abandoned her afterwards at the hospital.

The woman told the police that at the hospital, Srikanth’s friend Babu Rao, and his friend Pawan Kalyan, saw her own they also raped her.
Based on the woman’s complaint, the missing case was changed to a rape case and the woman was sent for further medical checkup. The case was handed over to Disha ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) VV Naidu. Within hours, the three accused, 26-year-old Dara Srikanth Shekhar, 23-year-old Chenna Baburao and 23-year-old Karangulu Pawan Kalyan have been arrested.
Meanwhile, the state government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the rape victim.
