Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his wife N. Bhuvaneswari performed ‘bhoomi puja’ (groundbreaking ceremony) at 8.51 a.m. for their own house in Amaravati on Wednesday.
Mr. Naidu’s son and HRD Minister N. Lokesh, his wife N. Brahmani and son N. Devansh were present. About 200 members from the Nandamuri and Nara families attended the ceremony.
The new house is being built on a plot Mr. Naidu purchased from the local farmers in the core capital area. It is near E6 Road, behind the Secretariat at Velagapudi.
Women farmers from the capital region decorated the ‘bhoomi puja’ site with traditional rangoli patterns. They drew sacred symbols such as the conch (shankha), ‘chakra’ (disc), and ‘Thirunamam’.

It is not often that an election in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation makes much news outside Kerala or even the capital. But the elections in 2020 were different as it culminated in the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]’s Arya Rajendran becoming the youngest Mayor of the Corporation at the age of 21, an event which got attention far and wide. Now, five years later, an old tweet on that election by another young person in the running to be the Mayor of New York has gone viral.
