Virender Sehwag labeled English batter Jonny Bairstow's 92-ball 136 as an 'ínnings of a lifetime' as England clinched the series against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
Set a target of 299 runs to win the second Test, England were in a spot of bother when Bairstow walked in as they had lost four wickets with 93 runs on the board. However, the 32-year-old batter demolished the Kiwis bowling lineup as he smashed 14 fours and seven sixes to help the hosts chase down the score with five wickets remaining. He also received ample support from captain Ben Stokes, who scored 75 runs off 70 balls.
Bairstow's innings received a lot of praise from the cricket world and one of them was former Indian batter Virender Sehwag. The 43-year-old, who was known for his aggressive batting style, took to social media and heaped praise on the English batter, calling his knock an innings of a lifetime. Sehwag also praised England's batting effort and said it was one of the best counter-attacking fourth innings in the history of the game.
