There's a potentially dangerous ice storm heading toward the Greater Toronto Area that's set to create bad conditions throughout the weekend.
Here's what you can expect, hour by hour. CBC Toronto will be updating this story as we get more information about the weather event, so check back as you're planning your weekend.
If you can, get stocked up for the weekend during the daytime.
Toronto will see wind gusts of 20 km/h starting at around 11 a.m. ET, with wind chill making it feel like - 3 C. Friday's actual high is expected to be 3 C.
Periods of rain will begin around 4 p.m. in parts of the GTA, as temperatures begin to drop.
At 5 p.m., the City of Toronto is opening five emergency warming centres.
Here's where conditions are expected to deteriorate.
The rain is expected to transition into freezing rain around 8 p.m. as the temperature nears the freezing mark.
Environment Canada says ice buildup of three to five millimetres is possible, increasing the risk of power outages, slippery surfaces and broken tree branches.
There's a chance this storm might be worse in some regions than others.
Storm chaser and meteorologist Mark Robinson said the most significant amount of freezing rain may happen from Huntsville through Peterborough and down toward Kingston.
But he said freezing rain can be difficult to predict.
"You need such exact meteorological conditions for that freezing rain to happen," he said in an interview with CBC Radio's Metro Morning on Friday. "If it's not perfect, you'll get a switchover to snow or pure rain."
"That's the big question right now: how much are we going to see?"
