Dairy brand Amul paid a heartfelt tribute to late actors Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta as their film Belashuru released in the theatres last week. Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee passed away on November 15 last year while his Belaseshe co-star Swatilekha died on June 16. The Bengali film Belashuru, which released after their deaths, is directed by Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy.
Amul shared a graphic featuring the animated versions of the actors recreating a scene from the film. “Belashuru, the film stages the comeback of Shri Soumitra Chattopadhyay and Smt Swatilekha Sengupta- the first time in Indian cinema that both lead actors of a film have passed away,” the post caption reads.
This Bela will never end Taste isse Shuru,” are the words inscribed on the graphic shared by Amul.

Belaseshe, a 2015 film about an elderly couple on the verge of separation, brought together Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta 31 years after Satyajit Ray’s Ghare Baire. It received a fabulous response from critics as well as the audience. Belashuru, featuring the same star cast as Belaseshe, released seven years after the first film. However, it is not a sequel.
