Amul MD RS Sodhi responded to PETA India’s suggestion to switch to producing vegan milk and asked who will provide a livelihood to over 10 crore farmers who depend on the dairy sector.
Responding to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s appeal to switch to producing vegan milk, Managing Director of Amul RS Sodhi on Saturday asked who will provide employment to 10 crore farmers who depend on the cooperative dairy sector for their livelihood. RS Sodhi said, “PETA wants Amul to snatch livelihood of 100 million poor farmers and handover it's all resources built in 75 years with farmers' money to market genetically modified soya of rich MNC at exorbitant prices, which average lower middle class can't afford.” PETA India had urged Indian dairy cooperative society Amul to take a decision regarding switching to producing vegan milk. PETA wrote a letter to RS Sodhi which said, "the dairy cooperative society should benefit from the booming vegan food and milk market."More Related News
