Amitabh Bachchan is multi-talented and there is no doubt in that! The actor has now donned the music composer's hat with R Balki's film Chup.
Filmmaker R Balki is ready to entertain the audience with his next film, Chup: Revenge of the Artist. The film starring Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary will hit the big screen on September 23 and it will clash with Dhokha Round D Corner at the box office. If you’ve been paying attention to the film’s updates, you might have noticed a name we are all familiar with, that is - Amitabh Bachchan as Music Composer. Surprising, isn’t it? However, it is not a glitch.
Amitabh Bachchan has donned many hats over the years and has also lent his voice to some iconic songs too. However, this is the first time that he composed a score. Big B turned music composer for his close friend and filmmaker R Balki for his film Chup. Narrating the story behind the same, R Balki shared, “It all happened very impromptu. I had asked Amitji to see the movie (Chup). After seeing it, he called me over and he played me a tune on his piano and said that’s what the movie and the characters made him feel. He was very touched. I was ecstatic. I asked him if I could use the tune and he immediately gifted it to the movie. Today Chup is the first film that has got Amitji's official composition as the score for the credits.”
Meanwhile, in an official statement, R Balki mentioned that Chup is special to him for more than one reason. "For me the biggest reason is it marks the official debut of Amitabh Bachchan as a music composer. Amitji saw Chup and played an instinctive original melody on his piano as he relived the film. It was his way of expressing his feelings for the film, paying tribute. This composition, his gift for the film, will be the end title track of Chup. I don’t think there can be an artist whose sensitivity can beat Bachchan’s and Chup has his touch," he said.
Chup: Revenge of the Artist will release in theatres sometime in September 23, 2022. The crime thriller features Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Pooja Bhatt in key roles. For the first time, director Balki is venturing into a new genre - thriller. Initially, cinematographer PC Sreeram was roped in to crank the camera. However, the cinematographer has backed out of the project due to reasons best known to him.
