Amir, Sudanese leader discuss bilateral ties, regional issues

Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, H E Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing and developing them in various fields to achieve the interests of the two countries and peoples. The talks, which were held at the Amiri Diwan yesterday morning, dealt with the most prominent developments on the regional and international arenas, and issues of joint interest. The talks were attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, and on the Sudanese side, it was attended by Their Excellencies, members of the accompanying official delegation. HH the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan and the delegation accompanying him, at the Amiri Diwan. The banquet was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the ministers. The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan left Doha yesterday afternoon after the official visit. His Excellency and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon departure at Doha International Airport by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H E Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Sudan, H E Abd Al Rahman bin Ali Al Kubaisi, and Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the State, H E Abdulrahim Al Siddig Mohammed. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan appreciated Qatar’s standing with his country throughout the past period, especially during the floods that struck Sudan during the past year, and during coronavirus pandemic, praising the positions of Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in support of his country, including his call at the United Nations to remove Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
In a press conference held yesterday in Doha, he expressed gratitude to the State of Qatar for its interest in the Sudanese issue, its cooperation and constant communication, and its relentless endeavor to establish peace, as Sudan, with Qatar’s participation, was able to sign a peace agreement in Juba adding that State of Qatar also participated in the process of change and completed the triangle of partnership with the Sudanese forces that made change and is now supporting it. It also played a key role in Darfur peace in the previous period, and it has some ongoing projects there.He stressed that his country is linked with Qatar by ancient and solid ties, and that they share many bonds of brotherhood and love. The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan explained that his visit to Qatar at the invitation of H H the Amir comes within the framework of strengthening Sudan’s foreign relations in this transitional phase and building them on good and excellent foundations linked to the national interest, cooperation, brotherhood and exchange of benefits, expressing his happiness in visiting Qatar. On the agreement on specific mechanisms to strengthen the economic and political partnership between Qatar and Sudan, Al Burhan explained that the two countries have mechanisms already in place and cooperation in various fields, there are more than 36 agreements and protocols signed with Qatar, and it was agreed during this visit to activate them, as well as exchange visits. He pointed to the intention of a government delegation and Qatari businessmen to visit Sudan next week to discuss aspects of cooperation. Regarding the Doha talks dealing with strengthening Qatari investments in Sudan, the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan said that both sides agreed in all matters discussed, and do not have differences, and Qatari investments in Sudan are considered and developed, and both are completely in agreement on the mechanisms that support and activate joint cooperation.
