Amir holds talks with Uruguayan president

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Dr. Luis Lacalle Pou, held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan on Monday morning. During the session, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing and developing them, especially in the diplomatic, educational, and sports fields. They also reviewed issues of joint interest. His Highness the Amir and President Dr. Pou witnessed the signing of an agreement and several memoranda of understanding (MoU) between the two countries. Both sides witnessed the signing of an MoU on cooperation in the youth and sports fields, and an MoU for cooperation in the education field, and an agreement on a mutual exemption from entry visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, private, official, regular and mission passports, as well as an MoU for cooperation in the field of diplomatic training between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Artigas Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay. The session and the signing ceremony were attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers. On the Uruguayan side, it was attended by a number of the members of the official delegation accompanying the president. His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of Dr. Pou and the accompanying delegation. Dr. Pou had earlier arrived at the Amiri Diwan, where he was accorded an official reception ceremony.
