Amid water scarcity in the state, residents of Khadial village risk their lives to get just a bucket of water every day. Only two dried up wells, filled by about 3 tankers every day, support a population of more than 1000.
Residents of Khadial village of Melghat in Maharashtra are risking their lives for a bucket of water. The population of more than 1000 is supported by only two dried up wells which are refilled by tankers.
In a video tweeted by ANI, several people can be seen crowded around the well, throwing their buckets in to get some water. "There are only two wells in the village which have almost dried up, a village of 1500 population is dependent on 2-3 tankers for water every day", said a villager.

Another villager told ANI, "Water is supplied to the village through two tankers that pour water into dry wells. People risk their lives to draw water from wells. Diseases are increasing after drinking dirty water. If a person gets sick, there is no road to take them to the hospital.”
