Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was seen taking a leisurely boat ride with lawmakers on Saturday while his MLAship hangs in the balance.
Buffeted by political headwinds, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was seen taking a leisurely boat ride near Latratu dam in the state’s Khunti district. on Saturday
Soren was accompanied by several MLAs from his party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), and alliance partner Congress. Clad in cheery orange life jackets, the Jharkhand CM and lawmakers posed for a photo with grins on their faces.
Looking relaxed and cheerful, Soren flashed a thumbs-up at the camera.
Buses carrying MLAs of the JMM-led ruling alliance were seen leaving the CM’s residence in Ranchi on Saturday afternoon after a meeting of the UPA legislators. This set off speculation that they would be moved to a resort at an undisclosed location to prevent poaching attempts by main opposition party, the BJP.

However, all the legislators returned to the state capital by evening after spending time at the Latratu dam and a nearby guest house.
The Jharkhand leaders’ show of camaraderie came amid suspense over the political fate of Hemant Soren, who is facing the possibility of being disqualified as MLA after being accused of holding an office of profit.
