The Covid-19 pandemic has left many with depleted economic resources and no source of income. Now, they also have to contend with a spike in prices of essential goods such as edible oil and pulses. Across the country, the story is the same. Prices of kitchen goods, apart from petrol and diesel, have skyrocketed during the second wave of the pandemic. In the last one year, prices of essential food items have increased by 40 to 100 per cent. This is making it very difficult for families to make ends meet.
