India has received praise from Tanzania for fulfilling its commitment to fund water projects worth $500 million in the east-African nation at a time when its facing backlash from several quarters for comments on Prophet Muhammad by BJP leaders.
At a time when India is facing a massive backlash from several Islamic nations over comments by two BJP leaders on Prophet Muhammad, the government is also receiving praise and gratitude for fulfilling its commitments as a “friend in need”.
President of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan has thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government of India for funding projects worth over $500 million aimed at resolving the water crisis in the east-African nation.

“We are heartened by the support given by the Indian government to our country,” she said at an event. She requested the Binaya Pradhan, High Commissioner of India in Tanzania, to convey her gratitude “to the people and the government of India”. “A friend in need is a friend indeed. So, thank you very much,” she said.
