Amid Covid-19 surge, private hospitals in Mumbai see increased bed occupancy
India Today
Nearly 60 per cent of the beds in Mumbai's private hospitals reserved for Covid-19 patients are occupied in view of the rising coronavirus cases.
Amid rising cases of Covid-19 and Omicron variant in Mumbai, nearly 60 per cent of the beds in private hospitals reserved for Covid-19 patients are occupied. This comes even as the hospitalisation rate in state-run and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) controlled hospitals is limited.
At Bombay Hospital, all 102 beds reserved for Covid-19 patients were occupied on January 7. Dr Gautam Bhansali, the chief Covid-19 coordinator of all private hospitals, accepted the fact that the occupancy in the private hospitals had increased in the last couple of days owing to the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the city.
