India Today
Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI) - who is contesting alone in the urban local body elections, brought in a lookalike of the actor to campaign in Madurai.
After winning 129 Ward members in the Tamil Nadu's Panchayat elections, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI) decided to contest alone in the urban local body elections, as per the instructions of their ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay.
The local body elections are the battleground for political parties and while DMK chief and Chief Minister MK Stalin and AIADMK's E Palanisamy have locked horns with throwing allegations and counter- allegations at each other, Vijay's fans took the easy route and brought in a lookalike of the actor for campaigning in Madurai.
The lookalike impersonated the actor's body language and was dressed as Vijay from his movie ‘Master’, leaving the public stunned.
He then went around the neighbourhood canvassing for votes for Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’s candidate, Nageswari, contesting from Madurai 88th ward.
At one point, the doppelgänger gets onto a bus in the same style as actor Vijay does in the 'Master' movie, sending the fans into a frenzy.
He even roasted vadas in a snack shop for the customers, all the while not breaking character.
The people were shocked to see Vijay’s lookalike -- who was brought from Kerala and was identified as Rajesh Vijay.
