A video of an American chef named Eitan Bernath making roti has gone viral online. The clip has 6 lakh views.
If someone were to make a list of the best cuisines around the world, Indian food would surely make it among the top spots. Desi food is extremely popular and chefs all over the world have tried to recreate some of the country’s most iconic dishes. However, this American chef just tried to make roti and, well, the internet is impressed.
The now-viral video was posted on Instagram by Eitan Bernath. The 19-year-old describes himself as a chef, author, entertainer and an entrepreneur in his bio. To make the roti, he first added some wheat flour in a bowl. He then added some salt and lukewarm water to knead a soft dough with his hands. Next, Eitan put some oil on the dough, covered it and let it rest for 20-30 minutes. “Roti is all about touching and feeling it, I don’t measure the ingredients,” he said.
Eitan went on to divide the dough into pieces and made a round disk out of one. He even used the Indian tawa to make fluffy, round rotis and got extremely excited when it started puffing on the fire. Before serving, Eitan brushed it with some ghee. Yum!
“If I told you I didn’t make this recipe constantly I’d be lying,” reads the caption of the post.
