The Ministry of Home Affairs has given a big gift to the Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers posted along the Line of Control (LoC). All-weather PUF shelters i.e. containers worth over 50 crores are being built for the soldiers. The installation process of around 115 PUF shelter homes has been started at the Forward Defense Location (FDLs) along the LoC.
These shelter homes are equipped with better technology and facilities. According to the information, the PUF panel shelters are being built in Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla and Rajouri sectors as of now. Solar panels will also be arranged in these shelter homes.
According to the information received from BSF sources, the temperature inside these all-weather containers will remain in a systematic manner so that the soldiers do not face many problems during winter and summer. These containers can also be shifted from one place to another. BSF can use them every season and everywhere.
The Ministry of Home Affairs gave its nod to the PUF shelter homes after a meeting held in the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the welfare of the jawans.
BSF IG of Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Babu Singh, lauded the central government's efforts for installing all-weather shelter homes. Talking to Aaj Tak, Singh said that these containers would only increase the efficiency of the soldiers.
“The shelter homes are also good in terms of safety. Even if it snows outside, the internal temperature of the containers can be maintained. Our jawans monitor the borders for 6 to 7 months of the year even in -20 degree centigrade temperatures, so this step by the central government will be very beneficial for the soldiers,” added Singh.
