A man, who joined tens of thousands of men fleeing Russia after President Putin's mobilisation order, said that he cannot trust the government and this is all lies.
People are leaving Russia after President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilisation. Thousands of Russian men have left the country after Putin signed a decree on the partial mobilisation which would lead up to 300,000 reservists being called up to join the army.
A man joining thousands fleeing Russia after the mobilisation order was quoted by CNN as saying, "This is all because we cannot trust our government anymore. This is all lies. We have already heard that there will be no mobilisation. I don't want to try it out. I am walking away from motherland for good."
People have been cycling and crossing the Russian-Georgian border, taking whatever they can to flee, reported CNN. Thousands of Russian men are fleeing into neighbouring Georgia to avoid being called-up to fight in a war as they oppose Putin's mobilisation order.
"I came because we don't know what to expect. The country has no plans and we can see that. The feeling of uncertainty is our biggest fear," says Danis, who walked for six days to get to the crossing. Many people are still stranded in their cars and abandoning them.
