‘All contacts snapped in 6.5 years of jail life’: Indrani Mukerjea seeks 2 more months to procure surety

Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani Mukerjea has been granted four weeks to furnish local solvent surety. Indrani has now filed an application for an extension of the time to furnish the surety.
Expressing her inability to find contacts who would help her furnish the surety Rs 2 lakh, Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani Mukerjea has sought an extension on the four weeks granted to her to furnish the amount.
Indrani Mukerjea was granted bail by the Supreme Court on May 18. Since the special CBI court was on leave, on May 18, the in-charge court fixed the conditions for the release of the accused on bail.

She was directed to be released on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh with one or more local solvent surety/sureties. In the same order, the court directed that as furnishing solvent surety may take some time, Mukerjea may provisionally be released on furnishing a cash bail amount of Rs 2 lakh and two weeks from May 19 was fixed to comply with the conditions.
Special CBI judge SP Naik Nimbalkar noted that Mukerjea’s two weeks expired on June 1 and thus, she had to approach the court again.

Mukerjea's lawyer Sana Raees Khan argued before the court that she had been unable to furnish surety as her phone had been confiscated by the CBI. Khan also cited Mukerjea’s inability to furnish the security as she had come out of jail after 6.5 years and all ties with her friends and relatives had been severed.
