Alia Bhatt has opened up about Isha's character arc in Brahmastra. Here's what the actress told IndiaToday.in.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra has led to several debates and discussions on the film. Fans have been debating conspiracy theories and guessing where this universe is heading next. Among the criticism on the film, one point that was made was about Alia Bhatt’s Isha not having much to do apart from protecting Shiva and making everything about him. In fact, there have been several memes and videos around Isha and her dialogues from the film.
In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, Alia spoke about her take on the meme fest and the criticism that Isha doesn’t have much to do in Brahmastra. Talking about the memes and jokes, Alia said, “So, there are two things. On the Shiva dialogue thing, I myself actually made that joke. I told Ayan people can literally play a drinking game based on the number of times I have said Shiva in the film or they can do a workout game or whatever they want to do. I find that joke hilarious because I also felt it.”
Adding that the audience has to watch the film in the context of the trilogy, Alia added, “I know the larger thought that Ayan has for each and every character that you have seen in Brahmastra: Part One. So, you know that it is conceptualised as a trilogy. For example, people have asked me about Dimple Kapadia - you have seen her for 2.5 seconds but why and how? You can always think that the makers and creator have something in mind for every character. And I think I take it as a compliment that people want to see more of me in some way. But I also feel that the timing at which Brahmastra was conceptualised, which was like in 2014-2015 when I came into the picture, you have to understand that I barely had films. People who like and follow my work, will always feel certain protectiveness towards how much I am doing. I have always said this - it's not the length of the role that matters, but it's the quality of the role that matters. And definitely, I can say this with my eyes shut - the quality of Isha's character is very strong in Brahmastra. I am dead sure they are not going to feel it in parts two and three. I genuinely feel the conceptualisation is done at a larger scale. So it's not only in relation to Isha's character, people have so many questions in general - with regards to Amrita and Dev's character and Amitji's character, there are so many questions. But this is part one; let the story unfold. I don't want to give too much of a way, because we genuinely can't. We have been reading everything and we have been excited and entertained and it is lovely that it is being discussed at a large level.”Ranbir Kapoor in the same conversation confirmed to IndiaToday.in that the makers are planning to shoot the follow-up parts to Brahmastra simultaneously so as to not delay their release.
