Vijay Varma has opened up about working with Alia Bhatt in Darlings. The actor said Alia is full of surprises.
Vijay Varma has been getting rave reviews for his latest release, Darlings. The actor played the role of Alia Bhatt's abusive husband, Hamza, in the film. Though Vijay and Alia shared different on-screen chemistry, their off-chemistry is pleasant. After the success of Darlings, IndiaToday.in spoke to Vijay Varma, who shared his experience of working with Alia in the Jasmeet Reen directorial.
Going down memory lane, Vijay Varma spoke about one happy memory with Alia from the sets of Darlings. He also heaped praise on Alia and said she is full of surprises.
"I remember telling Alia several times that I need one happy memory with you on the set. On the last day of the shoot, for us, for the entire film was outside the metro - the opening scene where I am trying to chase her and tell her that we should get married. I lift her and we have a little swing and the titles come. That was the last day of the shoot. And I was like chalo atleast one decent memory together. Otherwise, we created a lot of traumatic memories together - that was on-screen trauma. Working with her is so delightful. She is full of surprises. You cannot expect two similar takes from Alia Bhatt. You have to be on your toes and react to what she is throwing," he said.
Talking about the one thing that he had to be careful of in Darlings, Vijay said, "Not to hurt her [Alia]. It is not pleasant the way Hamza [his character] thinks, he behaves, his choice of words, his actions. I did not like this character at all when I read the script. [But the question was] How do I actually do this part and feel okay about doing it? So, I [thought] I can't let my judgements about the character come into the way. I have to let go off them. Tu raat mein aake ro, par din mein aake tu Hamza ka kaam kar - that is what I told myself. I signed myself up for the film."
Darlings was released on Netflix on August 5, 2022.
