Alia Bhatt along with Ranveer Singh attended the event in Kolkata
Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are on the last leg of their promotional tour for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani as the movie is slated to release this week. Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh went to Kolkata on Monday for the promotion of their movie. Alia Bhatt shared photos and videos from her Kolkata Kahaani on Instagram. Alia Bhatt has played a Bengali character called Rani Chatterjee in the movie. Expectedly, Alia would try to impress the Kolkata audience with her almost-perfect Bengali and Alia did so. Ranveer Singh also joined her on stage and repeated the lines in Bengali after Alia said it. Their co-ordination on stage was in sync unlike Rocky Aur Rani's families, which are poles apart in the movie.
The first slide of the post shows Alia is preparing her Bengali speech like a sincere student while scrolling pictures on her tab: Namaskar Kolkata. Tomader khub bhalo lagbe (Hello Kolkata. Hope you will like it very much)." The next slide takes you to the main event where Alia Bhatt forgets her lines after a minute of starting her welcome speech. Ranveer Singh teases Alia on stage and says "Too cute yaar. Tu homework kar ke aayi and exam hall pe bhul gayi (You have come prepared and then you forget at the exam hall)." You can call this on-stage performance scripted but what follows next is surely worth the wait. Alia said at length in Bengali while Ranveer repeated after her. An excerpt from Alia's speech read, "Namaskar Kolkata. Kemon acho sobai? Tomader sobaike anek dhonyobad ekhane asar jonyo (after this line Ranveer did not repeat Alia. Instead he said, "What she said.") Aj ami khub khub khub excited (Hello Kolkata. How are you doing? A heartfelt thank you to all of you for coming here today. I feel very very excited today...)."
