Vote is part of political reforms promised by President Tebboune after mass protests against former leader Bouteflika.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune set June 12 as the date for early legislative elections, the presidency said on Thursday, after announcing the dissolution of the lower house of parliament last month. The vote is part of political reforms promised by Tebboune following mass protests that forced his predecessor, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to resign in 2019 after 20 years in power. The legislative elections will be followed by local elections for mayors and town councilors.More Related News
