In a recent media interaction, Akshay Kumar said that Jr Ntr's film RRR might affect Bachchhan Paandey's box office collection. The Bollywood superstar also called the clash unfortunate.
Akshay Kumar is busy promoting his upcoming film, Bachchhan Paandey, which will release on March 18. The film also stars Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi. It should be noted that Bachchhan Paandey is releasing just a week ahead of SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited film, RRR. Hence, there would be a tough competition between the two. In a recent media interaction in Delhi, Akshay Kumar said that RRR might impact Bachchhan Paandey’s box office collection. He also called it unfortunate.
Akshay Kumar said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, several releases were postponed, therefore there will be continuous releases now. He went on to say that RRR might impact Bachchhan Paandey’s box office by 30 to 40 per cent. “Because of this pandemic, lots of movies are going to come one on top of the other. To say at the moment, yes, it is obviously going to impact. Every movie is going to impact each other. Businesses are going to go down by 30 to 40 percent. It is a very unfortunate thing but you have to deal with it," Akshay Kumar said.
Akshay Kumar said that even when theatres were operating at 50 per cent occupancy, films were impacted. However, the industry managed to survive. “You have to understand, just like how we understood the fact that when we opened the theatres with 50 per cent occupancy, it had an impact on the films, but you have to go with it. Still, my industry survived and we went ahead with it. So yes, to come back to normalcy, it will take another year or more than a year probably," the actor added.
Talking about the predictions that Bachchhan Paandey will be a hit, Akshay said, “It’s not important that only Bachchhan Paandey works. I really hope that all the films become a hit. We have gone through a pandemic and it has been two years since anything released. I hope lots of movies come in theatres and people watch them. The theatre owners, exhibitors have incurred big losses. But, theatres are slowly opening up. The films that were released recently have done such good business. So, I hope our film also works and people go to watch it. I hope the same for every film that will be released hereon. It is important that the film industry does business because only then we can do more films.”
Bachchhan Paandey is the remake of the 2014 Tamil film Veeram. The film stars Akshay Kumar in the role of a gangster, while Kriti Sanon plays an aspiring director.
