Hundreds of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers on Monday protested against the Congress-led Punjab government and questioned its failure to fulfil the election promises. Some of the protesters were also injured as police used water cannons to disperse them as they tried to violate section 144 in Chandigarh's Sector 25. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, who addressed the congregation and later courted arrest, said that Captain Amarinder Singh has betrayed the people by promising them a complete farm loan waiver besides a host of other promises. "The promises included eradicating drugs within four weeks, ensuring jobs to each household, giving unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 to youth, increasing the old age pension to Rs 2,500 per month and increasing the Shagun outlay to Rs 51,000 besides providing free houses to the houseless," Sukhbir Badal said while listing the failure of the Amarinder Singh government.More Related News
