The Kashmir Files has become the talk of the town ever since it was released on March 11. The film is breaking all records and has earned Rs 179 crore in less than two weeks of release. Many Bollywood celebs have lauded the film and have asked the audience to watch it.
The latest to join the bandwagon is Ajay Devgn. The actor's film, Runway 34 trailer was released yesterday, March 21. Based on true events, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan. When quizzed about films being made on true events, Ajay said that these stories are too inspirational and need to be told.
Ajay Devgn, at the trailer launch of Runway 34 spoke about how more and more films are being made on real-life incidents. He said that the world must know about these stories. He said, "It’s not like that. And it’s not happening just in India, but the rest of the world as well. I have done biographical films like The Legend of Bhagat Singh. When you hear stories, some of them are so inspirational. Sometimes, the truth is so amazing that you can’t write fiction like that. The idea is not to hunt true incidents to make a film. But what happens is, when you hear a true story, you feel that the world must know about it. And that’s why we pick it up, otherwise, we create our own stories.”
The Kashmir Files tells the true story of brutal sufferings endured by Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. It is a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of Kashmiri Pandit Community. It’s a heart-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle and trauma of Kashmiri pandits and questions eye-opening facts about democracy, religion, politics and humanity.
The Kashmir Files' cast features Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit and Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta, among others.
