Ahead of UNGA vote on Ukraine, India says need to stabilise economic ties with Russia
India Today
The MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday, said that India has established economic relations with Russia and it needs to be stabilised.
Spokesperson to the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi said that India has established economic relations with Russia and it needs to be stabilised. “We've established economic relations with Russia. Our focus is on stabilising these relations in the current circumstances. We've been very open about it. I think that's very clear regarding our position,”said Bagchi while addressing the media in Delhi on Thursday, April 7.
This comment was made by Bagchi in response to questions on growing criticism of India by several Western countries on its trade ties with Moscow and not standing with Ukraine in the time of crisis.
“Energy flows to Europe are continuing, fertiliser purchasing have been insulated, there are such other examples also. I think I will rely on what EAM said - political colouring should not be attributed to our actions,” he added.

"The vaccine is safe and effective. It continues to be recognised under the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), said Baghchi on being asked about WHO suspending the supply of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin through UN agencies saying that manufacturing deficiencies were detected during an inspection.
He also added that the WHO had issued a statement that there should not be any impact on the travel of those people who took it. It is a safe vaccine.
The MEA spokesperson was also asked about the US lawmaker Ilhan Omar calling President Joe Biden to criticise the Indian government on human rights. “Our position is clear, our democracy speaks for itself”, said Bagchi. The US lawmaker had asked the Biden administration why it has been so reluctant to criticise PM Modi’s government on human rights and what Modi needs to do to India’s Muslim population before the US will stop considering them a partner in peace.
