Ahan Shetty, who made his Bollywood debut with Tadap, is currently soaking in all the love that is coming his way for his performance in the film. Tadap is the Hindi remake of the Telugu flick, RX100, directed by Milan Luthria. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Ahan opened up about his upcoming plans, criticisms, his inhibitions as an actor, and the fear of being typecast.
Just a film old and Ahan Shetty knows exactly what kind of projects he wants to be part of. Speaking to IndiaToday.in, Ahan says, "I don’t have any specific road map, but at the same time I don’t wanna stick to anything in particular. I definitely, want to be a part of good films, work with good directors and play a variety of different roles. I don’t wanna be stuck just playing intense actions cinema. I wanna experiment with my characters, so I have kept it very open. If I like a script and I like the director, I would like to be part of that film."
Ahan, who pulled off every action sequence with ease in his first film itself, isn't afraid of being typecast as an action hero. Speaking about the same, he states, "You know I can't make sure of that, people may typecast me but I want to do the type of cinemas that I want to do. I don’t want to do the cinemas that people think I should do. I just want to listen to my heart and close people around me and do the kind of work that I want to do. I don’t really worry too much about being typecast as an action hero or anything like that. If I can show my work, it should not be a problem."
The 26-year-old also opened up about his inhibition as an actor. "I have no restrictions as such, the only thing is I don’t watch horror films. It's not like I don’t want to be a part of it but right now in my career I don’t see myself being a part of horror films, because I don’t watch it and I don’t understand that kind of cinema, that’s the only thing otherwise no restrictions as such," he told IndiaToday.in.
Although Ahan received tremendous response for his performance in Tadap, the film received mixed reviews and criticisms. Talking about the same, Ahan confesses, "I am very-very self-critical but at the same time when other people criticise me, I respect their opinions. I feel criticism is as important appreciation because it is the only way how I will grow, that’s the only way I will understand the mistakes I am making because sometimes you don’t realise you are making a mistake and there is someone who will figure it out for you, so I look forward to that criticism to make myself better."
