A ‘tantrik’ from the Agra district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday was arrested for allegedly ‘sacrificing’ a 2.5-year-old boy “to appease Devi Maa" in Jagner.
The accused, Bhola claims to be a 'Tantrik', who tried to take advantage of a property dispute between two families. He believed that offering a young child to the Goddess would solve his problems.
He chose the kid from the opposing family itself for the sacrifice. After murdering the child, he offered the child's blood to the Goddess, wrapped the body in a sack, and dumped it in a river.
The incident caused a major uproar in the area. As soon as the police learnt of the murder, they arrested Bhola.
A senior police officer told India Today that Barigavan village resident Ram Avtar reported his son Ritik to be missing. Upon investigation, the police found the body of a child in a sack on the Kiwar river’s bank. The body was identified and sent for autopsy.
Further investigation revealed that Hukum Singh, alias Bhola, had been seen with the child right before his disappearance. A local kid confirmed that Bhola had threatened him that if he told anyone about Bhola taking away the kid, he would sacrifice his entire family at the Chamad Devi Maa temple.
Upon interrogation, Bhola confessed to his crime and said that he had killed Ritik by suffocating him and then offered his body as a sacrifice to Chamad Devi Maa. After the sacrifice, he dumped the body into the Kiwar river, hoping the current would carry the body far away.
