Tourists arriving at the Taj Mahal in Agra are in for a treat. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has decided to make entry free for three days.
Tourists will get free entry to the Taj Mahal on February 27, 28 and March 1.
According to the ASI officials, a three-day Urs of Shah Jahan will be celebrated in the Taj Mahal on these three days, because of which tourists are getting this exemption.
This exemption is given every year on the occasion of Urs. Apart from this, entry to the Taj Mahal is also free on World Tourism Day.
Dr Rajkumar Patel, Superintending Archaeologist, ASI, said that on the first day of Shah Jahan's Urs, on February 27, from 2 pm to sunset, all tourists will get free entry.
“The same schedule will be followed on February 28 as well. The next day, March 1, on the last day of Urs, free entry will be given from sunrise to sunset. The security arrangements of the Taj Mahal are being strengthened due to the three-day Urs of Shah Jahan and the increase in the number of tourists. He said that all tourists will have to follow the Covid-19 protocol while entering the Taj Mahal for free.”
