Priyanka Gandhi said she wrote a letter to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh March 29, 2022, to immediately initiate recruitment to fill the vacant posts in the army.
Amid the ongoing protests across the country over the Agnipath scheme, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the government saying that her pleas to the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh about the recruitment were unheard.
"I had written a letter to the Defense Minister on March 29, 2022, requesting him to pay attention to these demands of the youth and find a solution immediately. But, the government did not give any importance to the voice of the youth," she tweeted.
According to Priyanka Gandhi, the government needs to understand the pain of the youth who are preparing for recruitment in the Army. She urged the Central government to take immediate decisions to fill up the vacant posts in the Army. She added that there has been no recruitment in the Army for three years.
Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, "Understand the pain of rural youth preparing for army recruitment. Recruitment did not come for three years. The youth of the race got blisters on their feet, they are disappointed and desperate. The youth are waiting for the Air Force recruitment results and appointments. The government took away permanent recruitment, rank, pension, everything."
