Afternoon snow squalls could make for a messy commute in London region

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for London and the surrounding region Tuesday.
Up to 15 centimetres of local accumulation is expected Tuesday afternoon into the evening.
The national weather service warns snowfall rates can be intense at times, with 5 centimetres falling per hour. Heavy local blowing snow can lead to poor visibility for drivers.
"Snow squalls have moved into areas north of the city of London," Environment Canada said in an online statement. "Snow squalls may briefly affect the city today but the heaviest bands are expected to remain to the north."
Strong winds gusting up to 60 km/h and rapidly accumulating snow will make travel hazardous in some locations at times.
Drivers are urged to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating conditions, and to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Snowy conditions are expected to dissipate after Wednesday, with a forecast of sunshine on Thursday with a high of 6 C.
