Following the judgment declaring Tamil Nadu Governor’s actions illegal, State of Kerala on April 8 urged CJI Sanjiv Khanna to list its writ petition before the Bench headed by Justice J.B. Pardiwala.

Following the judgment declaring Tamil Nadu Governor’s actions illegal, State of Kerala on Tuesday (April 8, 2025) urged Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna to list its writ petition before the Bench headed by Justice J.B. Pardiwala.

TN Government vs Governor LIVE

Senior advocate K.K. Venugopal, appearing for Kerala with advocate C.K. Sasi, referred to the judgment authored by Justice Pardiwala in the Tamil Nadu case this morning. Mr. Venugopal submitted the Kerala case dealt with the “unfortunate” incident of the State’s Governor sitting on seven Bills for over 33 months.

The petition of Kerala had come up for hearing before the CJI Bench. Chief Justice Khanna suggested adjourning it, indicating his retirement in mid May.

Mr. Venugopal said the judgment in the Tamil Nadu case amply covered Kerala’s problem with its own Governor.

CJI listed the case on May 13, possibly before another Bench. The CJI did not specify that it would be before J. Pardiwala despite repeated entreaties made by Mr. Venugopal.
