After the Income Tax Department, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has begun its crackdown on alleged shell companies linked to Shiv Sena leader Yashwant Jadhav and his family members for alleged diversion of funds.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has begun its crackdown on alleged shell companies linked to Shiv Sena leader Yashwant Jadhav and his family members for alleged diversion of funds.
This comes after the Income Tax Department took action against Jadhav, who is Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMCs) Standing Committee chairman, and his aides over complaints of corruption in awarding of contracts by the committee.
The companies under scanner of MCA are Shauru Trading Pvt Ltd, Pradhan Dealers Pvt Ltd and a few more firms allegedly floated for the purpose of diversion of funds and have no real business transactions. If irregularities are found, then action could be initiated against Jadhav and others involved under Companies Act by the MCA.
Sources revealed that when MCA officials visited the mentioned address of Pradhab Dealers Pvt ltd, they could not find the company or its whereabouts. Sources also said that multiple companies were found diverting funds to the company.
Jadhav, being the chairman of the BMC's Standing Committee, gives final approval for finance of major contracts in the corporation. Sources said that there had been multiple complaints against Jadhav, his aides, and some top BMC contractors who are being searched by the I-T Department for past few days.
These contractors include Bimal Agrawal, who was earlier under scanner for bulletproof jacket scam. He had also filed a complaint against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and others for extortion. Other under the I-T Department scanner are Bipin Jain, Madani, Landmarc Infrastructure, and a few more.
Jadhav has been under the scanner of the I-T Department since 2019. The department had also written to the Election Commission of India for disqualification of Yashwant Jadhav's wife, MLA Yamini Jadhav, over discrepancies in the election affidavit filed by her in 2019 Maharashtra Assembly election.
