After Cannes, Paoli Dam's film Chhaad The Terrace to be screened at Toronto festival

Bengali film Chhaad - The Terrace, starring Paoli Dam, is set to be screened at International Film Festival of South Asia, Toronto. It was earlier screened at Cannes Film Festival 2022.
Chhaad - The Terrace, which stars actress Paoli Dam in the lead role, will be screened at International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA), Toronto. The Bengali film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival on May 23, 2022. Chhaad is based on a female writer-cum-school teacher who suffers from an identity crisis after she is denied access to the terrace, her open space.
Directed by Indrani Chakraborty, Chhaad - The Terrace is bankrolled by National Film Development Corporation. The film delves into the female teacher's relationship with the terrace, which eventually led to her disillusionment. "We are glad that our films are getting recognised at renowned festivals the world over. The new production ‘Chhaad The Terrace’ will be premiering in North America and we hope the film will be supported by the audiences," said Ravinder Bhakar, the managing director of NFDC, in a statement.
MMThe film is set to be screened at the festival on August 13 at Cineplex Odeon Morningside Cinemas, Scarborough, Toronto, with English subtitles. NFDC is also planning to send the film to the 53rd IFFI, which is scheduled to be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa.
Apart from Paoli Dam, Chhaad- The Terrace also stars Arunoday Banerjee and Rajnandini Paul in important roles. "A new feather in the cap for the film, it’s good to see the film steadily marching upwards and reaching its audiences. It’s being recognised by the festivals and Indrani’s work is appreciated on her directorial debut. Thanks to IFFSA, Toronto for premiering the film," said Paoli Dam in the statement.
