The Indian Army has constructed an iron foot bridge at Zalla village in the Chhatroo area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, and named it ‘Insaniyat Bridge’.
Locals living in far-flung villages have long felt the need for a permanent bridge. Matters gained a sense of urgency when a boy from Zalla village fell off the wooden log bridge.
Villagers then approached the Indian Army for help. After assessing the requirement, the local Rashtriya Rifles unit constructed a 45-feet-long and 3-feet-wide iron footbridge for the people. The bridge is strong enough to sustain weight of 5-6 persons at once, and can also be used for movement of cattle.
