Rockwood, Ont.-based sculptor Andreas Drenters will host a final show over Thanksgiving weekend, set in a barn filled top-to-bottom with pieces from his decades-long career.
Drenters, now 84, spent his early life in the Netherlands and is the son of an inventor and blacksmith.
"[My father], he could do anything, anything you could imagine," said Drenters.
"Carpentry, metal work, it didn't matter — so I learned a lot from him to incorporate it into my work."
Drenters is known for incorporating scrap metal and other found objects into his work.
His daughter, Lisa Drenters Carrer, recalls driving with her father in his truck as he'd stop and ask farmers for discarded pieces of farm machinery.
"Nine times out of 10, the farmer would say, 'You know, if you can clean it up for me, you can have it," she said.
