Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury wrote to the Lok Sabha speaker seeking intervention on the ED's questioning of Rahul Gandhi.
Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Wednesday wrote a letter to Om Birla, the Lok Sabha speaker, seeking intervention over the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) questioning of Rahul Gandhi.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the letter said Rahul Gandhi is being “grilled on an average 10 to 11 hours per day on the pretext of examination on some wild allegations.” He added that “this kind of inhuman treatment with a Member of Parliament smacks of a heinous conspiracy to settle political scores.”
Rahul Gandhi appeared for his third day of questioning before the ED on Wednesday. He is being questioned by the ED in connection to the National Herald money-laundering case.

Hundreds of Congress workers in Delhi took to the streets and several senior leaders were detained for protesting. They were protesting against the summons to Rahul and Sonia Gandhi in what the party alleges is a false case.
The National Herald matter came to the fore when former BJP MP Subramanian Swamy filed a case in the Delhi High Court accusing Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of land grabbing and misappropriating funds worth thousands of crores of Rupees.
He alleged that the Gandhis had acquired a public limited company — AJL — through a privately held firm — Young India Limited — of which Rahul Gandhi was the director.
