Popular actor and director Pratap Pothen passed away at the age of 70. Reportedly, he was found dead at his home in Chennai.
Renowned actor-director Pratap Pothen passed away on Friday, July 15, in Chennai. He was 70 years old. According to reports, he was found dead at his house in Chennai. More details regarding his demise and final rites are still awaited. The actor is survived by his daughter, Keya Pothen.
Pratap Pothen was born on August 13, 1952. In 1985, he married Radikaa Sarathkumar. The two parted ways 1 year later. Then, he got married to Amala Satyanath Pothen, who passed away in 2012. The two are parents to Keya.
In his long career, Pratap acted in over 100 films in multiple languages. Apart from being an actor, he also wrote scripts for films, directed and produced many noteworthy movies.
He made his debut as an actor with director Bharathan's Aaravam, which was released in 1978. The actor won awards for his performances in Thakara, Meendum Oru Kadhal kadhai, 22 Female Kottayam and Chamaram, among other films. Rithubhehedam, Oru Yathramozhi, Chaitanya and Daisy are some of the films he directed.
