Activists, student leaders arrested in Vijayawada for protest call over jobs

The student leaders and activists also protested against the growing rate of unemployment in Adhra Pradesh.
Leaders of the Telugu Nadu Students Federation, the students’ wing of the Telegu Desam Party, and other student unions have been detained by the police in Vijayawada for calling a protest, demanding that the state government immediately release the job calendar.
TDP’s Telugu Yuvatha members said that they are extending support to the “Chalo Vijayawada” programme that has been initiated by the Joint Action Committee today.
They, along with the Telugu Nadu Student Federation (TNSF), protested against the growing rate of unemployment in Adhra Pradesh.
Earlier, the TDP, the principal opposition in the state, had slammed Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for “betraying” the people of over 2.3 lakh jobs.
TDP’s executive secretary for the state, Nadendla Brahmam Chowdary, said that the chief minister, during the 2019 election, had said that there were 2.3 lakh vacancies in government jobs in the state.

“He raised the expectations of the youth by promising to fill all these vacancies if he was made the chief minister,” Chowdary said.
