
Active Summerside police operation declared over

Summerside police have ended an active operation that lasted about two hours and resulted in street closures and warnings for residents to remain indoors.
An emergency alert was issued just before 2 p.m. Saturday. It said Summerside Police Services and RCMP were responding to a weapons complaint in the area of Spring Street at Convent Street.
Summerside police issued an update at about 3:30 p.m. saying "the situation has been resolved" and that residents were safe to move, but police would remain in the area throughout the evening.
