Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s film Acharya opened with much fanfare on April 29. The father-son duo’s craze helped the film open big in the South. However, the Koratala Siva directorial debuted on a less satisfactory note. On its release day, the film managed to earn just Rs 7.99 crore. Acharya also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Pooja Hegde and Sonu Sood.
Acharya has received mixed responses from critics. It earned Rs 7.99 crore on Day 1, April 29. However, Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan's craze will definitely help to rake huge numbers on its first weekend. But seeing the mixed response, the film may see a significant drop in the weekdays. Meanwhile, Acharya released in over 2,000 theatres worldwide. Bookings for the film began four days ago.

Written and directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya is a socio-political action drama. The film is jointly produced by Matinee Entertainment and Konidela Production Company. The production and the release of Acharya were delayed multiple times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, the Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer hit the theatres on April 29. The soundtrack of Acharya is created by Mani Sharma and the lyrics are by Ramajogayya Sastry, Ananta Sriram and Bhaskarabhatla. Bankrolled by Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment, the film is made on a budget of Rs 140 crore.
