ABC's Jon Karl suggests Biden admin 'too tough' on migrants during Mayorkas interview

ABC's Jonathan Karl pressed DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about criticism of the Biden administration's immigration policy, suggesting it was too "harsh."

"Well, you are also of course getting hit from the other side, those that are saying you are being too harsh on the border, requiring that migrants seek asylum in a third country first, these penalties for those who cross illegally," Karl said. "The ACLU is suing to challenge that, and I want to read one of the lead lawyers for the ACLU said, ‘the Biden Administration new ban places vulnerable asylum seekers in grave danger and violates U.S. asylum laws, we’ve been down this road before with Trump, the asylum bans were cruel and illegal then and nothing has changed now. So they’re saying this is effectively Trump policy."  Hanna Panreck is an associate editor at Fox News.

Mayorkas argued that the statement was "absolutely incorrect."
