AAP a vote-cutting machine in poll-bound Gujarat, says Congress state chief Raghu Sharma
India Today
As Congress shifts focus to poll-bound Gujarat, the AICC state in-charge Raghu Sharma accused the AAP of vote-cutting in the state.
Just days after results were declared for recently concluded assembly elections in five states, the Congress looks to regroup and focus on poll-bound Gujarat after being handed defeat in UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur. Speaking to India Today, AICC in-charge of Gujarat Raghu Sharma accused the Aam Aadmi Party of vote cutting in the state.
Raghu Sharma hit out at the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, which recently swept the polls in Punjab, handing defeat to the Congress.
Raghu Sharma said, “You can't compare Punjab and Gujarat. In Gujarat's political situation, it will be Congress vs BJP. People understand that the situation is different in every state.”
He further alleged, “AAP only comes for elections, the main opposition party there (in Gujarat) remains only Congress. AAP is a vote cutting machine in Gujarat. The example of Surat is in front of us. The people of AAP won the corporation elections, but later they joined BJP.”
ON CONGRESS'S POLL PREPARATION
Raghu Sharma talked about the party’s electoral preparation for Gujarat, which is slated to go to polls later this year.
“Losses and wins keep happening in elections,” Raghu Sharma said as he spoke about the defeat in recent polls.
