Aamir Khan had a big role in Amitabh Bachchan's Jhund. But you missed it
India Today
What if we told you that Aamir Khan was so integral to Amitabh Bachchan's Jhund, that without him, there would be no Jhund?
How does a stalwart like Amitabh Bachchan choose his scripts? Careful consideration, analysing risks and challenges, and some recommendations and suggestions from near and dear ones. So, when Nagraj Manjule approached Big B for Jhund, he went through the same process. Except, one person's recommendation sealed the deal for Amitabh Bachchan. And that person is Aamir Khan.
It was Aamir Khan who recommended and convinced Amitabh Bachchan to do the movie Jhund, and Big B himself admitted it in an old interview. Jhund released nationwide today, March 4, and while the janta verdict is yet to be out, Jhund received a collective thumbs-up from critics.
But, much before Jhund went on floors, Aamir heard the script of the movie and was so impressed by it that he recommended Mr Bachchan to do the film. He even went the extra mile to convince him to agree to the project, for Aamir Khan felt it would be a perfect collaboration between Big B and Nagraj Manjule.
"I remember when I discussed that with Aamir; he told me I must do this film [Jhund]. And you know what happens when Aamir endorses something," Amitabh Bachchan had said in an interview.
Recently, Aamir Khan watched Jhund at a special screening and he was moved to tears. Praising the film, Aamir said, "It's a fantastic film. It's unbelievable. It’s very unique and I don't know how it got made. I got up with a spirit and this film won't leave me. I don't have words because it is a very surprising film. It breaks everything we've learnt in 20-30 years being in the industry."
Hailing Big B for his class act, Aamir said, "Amitabh Bachchan has done tremendous work. He has done great films in his career but this is one of his best films, one of his greatest films."
