YSRCP MP Midhun Reddy seeks Supreme Court protection in liquor scam case amid alleged CID harassment.
Rajampet Member of Parliament P. V. Midhun Reddy has approached the Supreme Court seeking protection in the liquor scam case registered by the A.P. CID in the wake of alleged attempts by it to arrest him.
According to a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) release, the CID teams reached Delhi to arrest Mr. Midhun Reddy in spite of him not being named as an accused and the dismissal of his anticipatory bail petition by High Court on that ground on April 3, 2025.
The YSRCP accused the CID officers of threatening individuals to give false statements and forcing them to name certain people in order to carry out raids and make arrests.
Mr. Midhun Reddy filed the anticipatory bail plea in HC after CID launched the probe into the large-scale irregularities in liquor businesses overseen by the A.P. State Beverages Corporation, in September 2023.
However, the HC noted that no charges were levelled against Mr. Midhun Reddy as he was not listed as an accused, hence the anticipatory bail petition was not maintainable.
