A Black veteran is killed by police after 911 call says he has a gun. But his sister says a crisis team should have been sent

The sister of a retired military officer who was shot and killed by police outside his New Jersey home on the Fourth of July says the department should have sent a crisis team because of his mental condition.
But an attorney for one of the officers says their use of force was justified, given the circumstances. Audio of a 911 call from his wife to the Newton Police Department indicates Gulia Dale III, 61, had a gun when he was leaving his home and was "acting crazy." Videos released by the state attorney general's office show officers shooting Dale after first telling him to get out of his red pickup truck and drop to the ground. Dale got out of the truck cab and opened its rear passenger door, before returning to the driver's seat. He exited the cab again with an object in his hand, according to a news release from the state attorney general's office.More Related News
