Prosthetic makeup, diction classes, and a ball of cotton - in an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Bobby Deol reveals how he transformed into Dagar for Love Hostel.
Bollywood actor Bobby Deol is currently gearing up for the release of his OTT film, Love Hostel. Bobby Deol will be seen playing the role of Dagar in the film, which also stars Sanya Malhotra and Vikrant Massey in key roles. Ahead of the film's release on Zee5, Bobby shares exclusive details about the film and his character in an interview with IndiaToday.in.
Getting into the skin of a character requires a lot of hard work, and Bobby Deol takes us through his journey of transforming into Dagar. "I grew my beard for almost three months. It had to look unkempt. I grew my hair and had to colour it grey. Prosthetics were used, a birthmark and a bent nose had to be created. It was fun. And my character keeps chewing tobacco all the time, so I had to keep a piece of cotton in my mouth as long as I was performing, just so that the look and feel was right. And when I talk, there is a slight feeling of me chewing," Bobby reveals.
Bobby essays a dark character in Love Hostel. But that didn't stop Team Love Hostel from having loads of fun on sets. Talking about working with director Shankar Raman, Bobby said, "He is an awesome guy to work with. He creates his own world. He creates his own characters which are differently portrayed in films. He had already planned the look of my character and it was so much fun."
Bobby also revealed that the most-challenging part of playing Dagar in Love Hostel was to get his diction right. "I had to learn to speak the Haryanvi language, which was a challenge. It was the most challenging and exciting part of playing this character. I did a lot of workshops and I was very nervous. I really wanted to perfect it so that my character looked and sounded authentic. And the response to that from the promos was also positive," Bobby said on a parting note.
Love Hostel releases on February 25, 2022, on Zee5.
