80 students test Covid-19 positive in IIT Roorkee, institute declares as hotspot

IIT Roorkee has been declared as a Covid-19 hotspot after 80 students have tested positive for the virus in the past few days.
The spread of Covid-19 has reached the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee as around 80 students inside the institute have been tested positive for the virus in the past few days, despite taking several precautionary measures after the reopening of hostels. After the Covid-19 tests of the students were done, the Haridwar District Administration declared the institute as a Covid-19 hotspot and 5 of the hostels have been marked as containment zones. Initially, 60 students were Covid-19 positive but 20 more were detected on Wednesday. The administration of IIT Roorkee has sealed five hostels namely Cautley, Kasturba, Sarojini, Govind Bhavan and Vigyan Kunj after 80 students tested positive for Covid-19. These five hostels have a strength of over 1200 students currently.More Related News
