The central government employees earlier used to get a CEA of Rs 2,250 every month for the education of their children but due to COVID-19 the schools got closed and therefore, the government has to eliminate the option of CEA
After the recent hike of the Dearness Allowance (DA) and the Dearness Relief (DR) of central government employees, the government announced that these employees might see a salary hike once more. It further mentioned that those central government employees who didn’t get a chance to claim their Child Education Allowance (CEA) due to the Covid-19 pandemic can do it now. Picture this, the central government employees earlier used to get a CEA of Rs 2,250 every month for the education of their children but due to COVID-19 the schools got closed and therefore, the government has to eliminate the option of CEA. Now the schools are opening up again, so the central government has decided that it will collect CEA. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had issued an office memorandum that basically addressed the issue of how the central government employees were fighting to claim the CEA that happened due to the pandemic.
